Volkswagen Up Reviews

The Volkswagen up! is a range of city car produced by the German carmaker Volkswagen.  It is a relatively recent addition to the Volkswagen range, debuting in 2011.  The 3-door, 4-seater Volkswagen up! city car is available to buy new through Volkswagen’s UK main dealer network, which you can locate using the dealer search function on the company’s official UK website, where you can also book a test drive in a new Volkswagen up!

Reviews for the Volkwagen up! have been generally very positive, and indeed What Car? awarded the model its Car of the Year title for 2012.  These plaudits have been largely thanks to the relative comfort and ease with which the Volkswagen up! accommodates its four occupants, and with it boot capacity of 251-litres rising to 951-litres once the seats are lowered.  The Volkswagen up! has also been complimented by many road testers for its responsive handling and peppy performance.  For city driving this results in a fun driving experience which compares well to other cars in its class.  The Volkswagen up! has also impressed reviewers with its styling, the tardis-like interior being contained within a clean, contemporary, fun-looking bodyshell.  The fuel economy of 67.3mpg in the top-of-the-range Volkswagen High up! 1.0 BlueMotion Technology is very competitive, and the standard equipment levels are also considered good for its market sector.

Negative comments by reviews tend to be gravitate towards the feeling that the price range for the Volkswagen up! is a little high for the level of standard equipment – although optional extras are competitively priced – and also for the city car segment in general.  The Volkswagen up! can feel a little stressed and noisy for motorway driving, although it has to be said it was never developed with this in mind.
